Berner Altorientalisches Forum (BAF)

Submit an abstract

The BAF committee is granting a limited number of grants for early career researchers with interesting talk proposals, so do not hesitate to submit an abstract for a talk (300 words max.). Looking forward to hearing from you!

We welcome submissions for...

Talks

  • 10 minutes maximum (5 minutes discussion)
  • of academic standard but aimed at a non-specialist audience
  • concise and communicative

You are encouraged to seize this opportunity to bring forward new ideas and projects (big or small) and bounce them off specialists from other fields. The talks will be vidcasted.

Please note that for your talk to be considered for publication in our vidcast journal all citations and images in your powerpoint must be correctly and visibly referenced within the powerpoint.

It is also important that you make sure the langauge employed in your slides is grammatically correct and accurate, following scientific standards.

If you would like to be considered for a grant please attach to your abstract a short paragraph (100 words max.) summarising your financial situation at this stage of your career.

Book presentations

Newly published (co-) authors/editors are invited to present their books during the BAF through 5 minutes "book sessions" that take place during the coffee breaks (think "poster session" but with books).

Please note

Important

NEW deadline for submitting abstracts: 7 April 2019, midnight GMT +01:00. Abstracts for talks and book presentations should be sent in Word format (1-sided single page, A4).
